Thank you, for visiting my website and the interest you are showing in Life Coaching.

Because Life Coaching is all about you, your needs, beliefs, values, rules, dreams and desires, it is the coach’s job to provide an environment for you to reflect on all these aspects of your life, to be a sounding board and mirror so as to encourage you to look deep within yourself to search out the factors that have been inhibiting your progress.

It is important therefore that you and your Coach are comfortable with each other, and are able to work as a team.
It is imperative that you have the confidence and trust to simply be yourself, and so to introduce myself as a prospective Coach; the following is a brief synopsis of my life journey so far.

I hail originally from North Yorkshire, but have spent two thirds of my life in various parts of Africa as well as a two years in Western Australia, from this experience I have learnt to enjoy different cultures, religions and value systems, to be non-judgemental, grateful for all that life has blessed me with and the awareness that you can learn from anyone and everyone. 

For most of my life, I have earned my living as a Transport Engineer/Manager including time as a Marine Engineer sailing off the ports of Africa. In the various environments I have found myself in, I have had to develop and use my interpersonal skills to negotiate with both Company Directors and a striking workforce, to enforce discipline and yet also provide support during personal crisis. These experiences have taught me control, tolerance, patience and listening skills.

Since an early age I have found myself thrust into leadership roles, without necessarily wanting or needing them, and upon reflection I have come to realise this was not because of some exceptional ability or drive, but because of a natural nurturing personality. I have always cared about people's well being and how my actions might impact upon their lives, and this has led me into such extra-mural activities as, Chairman of my local Chamber of Commerce, Youth Leader, First Aid Instructor, and Life-Line telephone councillor to name but a few.

• Licentiate of the City & Guilds Institute

I have extensive experience both in company management and individual coaching situations, and use this to re-enforce my understanding and empathy with my client’s situation, helping me to lead them to finding their own solutions to the inhibiting factors that have been holding them back.
